Once a part of Caldwell, Verona was incorporated in 1907 as a borough, later changing its status to township in 1981. Although mainly residential, Verona has several notable industries including Annin & Company, the nation's oldest and largest flag producer. The 54-acre Verona Park, part of the Essex County Park System, features a playground, tennis courts & sports field. The park contains a 13-acre lake and a boat house.
